Legendary Movement festival coming to Barbarella's for a club edition
Movement, the worldly recognized festival brand with editions in Detroit (USA) and Turin (Italy) is coming to Croatia. Debuting Movement Croatia will have its club edition in the legendary open air club Barbarella’s in Pirovac , from July 31st - August 2nd. Three days will host a list of names which are not to be missed and include Derrick May, Petar Dundov, Tony Humphries, Robert Hood presents Floorplan and Timo Maas, to name a few.
One of the world’s best festivals Movement Detroit Electronic Music Festival started in 2000. in Detroit and had its first overseas show in 2006. in Turin, Italy. Movement hosts the world’s leading DJs and musicians performances to represent the evolution of the contemporary music culture. With renewed attention to the artistic quality offer, territorial promotion, safety and environmental sustainability, as well as top production, Movement is a festival that also enables the best experience. The year 2015. sees Movement growing in another territory - Croatia , one of the music’s most vivid countries, so a Movement club edition will be held this summer in open air club Barbarella’s.
Three days of program bring top names to the legendary Barbarella’s. Friday, July 31st will host the great Derrick May. Spokesman of techno music and one of the founders and well as ambassadeurs of Movement, Derrick is always welcomed to Croatia with standing ovations.
There are few characters as influential for dance music as Derrick May, who is responsible for the birth of what we know as techno. Decade after decade May’s sets radiate the same raw energy that his timeless classics such as “Strings of Life”, “Nude Photo” and “It Is What It Is” are known for. Sharing the decks with him, the night will welcome Petar Dundov, one of the greatest authorities of local and world techno scene, and he will pšresent his vision of intelligent dance music. With over 50 releases on worldly recognized labels, especially the legendary Music Man, and numerous shows in world’s techno institutions, Petar Dundov is rightfully called one of the most famous techno ambassadeurs. Along with them we have Pete Dux playing the first day. The founder of media and event project United Electronic Sound has deep and groovy elements that characterize his sets full of minimal and techno.
Day two is Saturday, August 1st, and it is reserved for Tony Humphries, American house and deep house DJ and a producer, a busy owner of Tony Records and Yellorange labels, also recognized for his residency in New Yersey’s club Zanzibar. Lollino & Just A Mood also fill in the lineup the second day. Lollino grew up in Turin and was influenced by the 90s music that led him to become a Movement Festival resident DJ, and Just A Mood duo from turin draw inspiration from deep, techno and house music. Bronsky & Herya hop on board and these owners of a Zagreb based club night Deep’n’Delicious in Sirup will deliver some deep tunes.
Sunday, August 2nd, the last day of Movement showcase will bring the creme de la creme in Barbarella’s. American Robert Hood does minimal Detroit techno and was one of the founders of the legendary label Underground Resistance along with Jeff Millsom and Mike Banks. He will present his project Floorplan where he plays with disco samples. German producer Timo Maas is one of the most famous names of the dance music history. From techno, through involvment in the German rave scene, Timo Maas was a resident DJ in USA and Germany, slowly building his progressive trance story. Different remixing duties including the ones for Kelis, Madonna or Fatboy Slim put him under the spotlight. Caruan is an Italian DJ and a producer, as well as event organizer who has a spot on the lineup. Joining him is Teo Harouda, one of the most important people of the techno scene in Zagreb and beyond.
Barbarella’s club in Pirovac in bay Prosika is a place where tradition meets good music, a place that hosted the big names such as Richie Hawtina or Valentina Kanzyani. One of the best clubs in Dalmatia, releases the summer energy and haunts you to go to the dancefloor while you are surrounded with beaches, forests and wineyards. Having hosted some of the big electronic music names that marked this location, the Mocement Croatia schowcase will also put a mark on it with its tech and house enjoyment under the open sky.
